US Accuses Russia of Deploying Air Defence Systems in Ukraine

On Wednesday, the United States of America accused Russia of establishing an air defence system in the eastern part of Ukraine. US also added that the country is also involved in the training the pro-Russian rebels. US said that as per the agreement of the European Brokered Truce, this is a clear violation of the pact.

Mari Harf, who is the spokeswoman for State Department made a statement saying that it is the biggest Russian air defence in Ukraine so far since August of last year. She also said that the rebels are undergoing some sophisticated and highly skilled training and therefore there is absolutely no doubt that Russia is involved in all this.

Harf further added that during the training an unmanned aerial vehicle bearing Russian signature was spotted. Thus it can be said conclusively that Russia has a significant presence in the Eastern Ukraine.

Although the ceasefire had been brought to effect in February of this year, the fighting has again started in many regions. Both the sides are blaming each other as the perpetrators of the violence. However, a Russian minister said that instances of ceasefire violations have mitigated considerably. However, United States maintains that Russia is gathering its forces along the borders of the country.

Marf also said that Russia had maintained a steady presence along the Ukrainian border but this time the forces gathered there are more than ever. The conflicts in the country started over a year ago and more than 5,000 people have been killed since then.
